A new Resound Research brief highlights barriers to accessing medications commonly used for miscarriage management, despite the fact that these safe, FDA-approved medications are legal.
Researchers found that only 12% of physicians surveyed were able to prescribe and access mifepristone without difficulty. Although misoprostol is more widely available, fewer than half of respondents said they could access it easily.
The findings raise concerns about how legal uncertainty and ongoing court challenges to mifepristone may further limit miscarriage care for patients and physicians in Texas and across the country. The survey, conducted between November 2025 and January 2026, included 219 Texas OB/GYNs providing pregnancy-related care.
