Iris is a Research Associate at Resound Research for Reproductive Health. She holds a master’s degree in public health specializing in community health promotion from Texas A&M University and is pursuing a certificate in sexual education from Michigan University. For the last twelve years, she has worked in community-academia-based research programs that focused on culturally sensitive prevention and integrated approaches to health, suicide prevention, substance use, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV/AIDS.
In addition, Iris has experience in reproductive justice, health and rights, policy advocacy, and community mobilization.
She has supported the development of education curricula for community health workers in Texas and Oregon.
Iris’ work focuses on evidence-based, community-centered research. Her interests include reproductive health and justice, women’s rights advocacy, community mobilization, and sexual health education.
Driven by a deep passion for community-based programs, advocacy, sexuality education, reproductive justice, and health equity, Iris is dedicated to serving underserved populations in the Texas-Mexico border region.
